THE SUNKEN CITY OF AKKAD

Our company name is derived from the history of the city of Akkad. Founded in the late 3rd millennium BC in Mesopotamia, the land between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, it was the capital of the Akkadian Empire and the ultimate trade center. The measures taken by the founder and ruler, Sargon of Akkad, opened up cultural and economic connections that were completely new and innovative for that time. The existence of the city of Akkad is undoubtedly proven, yet it has not been found to this day despite intensive searches. It is suspected that climate changes in the form of a prolonged dry period forced the inhabitants to flee around 4,200 years ago, ultimately leading to the disappearance of the empire. The city of Akkad is thus literally hidden in the sands of time.
