THE SUNKEN CITY OF AKKAD

Our company name derives from the history of the city of Akkad. Founded in the late 3rd millennium BC in Mesopotamia, the land between the Euphrates and Tigris, it was the capital of the Akkadian Empire and the ultimate center of trade. The actions of the founder and ruler, Sargon of Akkad, opened up cultural and economic connections that were entirely new and innovative for that time. The existence of the city of Akkad is undeniably proven; however, it has yet to be found despite extensive searches. It is believed that climate changes in the form of a prolonged dry period forced the inhabitants to flee around 4,200 years ago, ultimately leading to the disappearance of the empire. The city of Akkad is therefore literally hidden in the sand mist.
