We continue our blog series with perhaps the most diverse district: Neubau. It's not easy to limit ourselves to just a few highlights here, as there is so much to see. However, what you should definitely not remove from your must-see list, we will tell you today.
The Spittelberg district is a lovingly revitalized Biedermeier area with countless beautiful buildings and is perfect for a spring walk. Due to its numerous restaurants, bars, and cozy Viennese pubs with typical gardens, Spittelberg is often referred to as a "village in the city." How lovely that we can once again take advantage of this offer starting today. This neighborhood simply exerts a special, unique charm. In our opinion, it must be seen. Our tip: The small, romantic alleyways are also particularly worth seeing. So be sure not to miss them!
We at AKKADIA love coffee, so we can't miss out on a tip here: Café Westend – a typical institution of the Viennese coffee house scene. With its high, stucco-decorated ceilings, this café has a very special flair and ambiance. So if you're feeling the urge for a break after strolling along Mariahilfer Straße, be sure to stop by at Westend. As a little boost, we recommend a classic Viennese Melange with a large piece of apple strudel.
The new building has a lot to offer architecturally; there are particularly many Gründerzeit houses and significant buildings such as the Volkstheater or the Palais Trautson. Also, some special churches can be found there, such as the Altlerchenfeld parish church, which is of great art historical significance, as it represents a transitional work between classicism and historicism. One must also not forget the MuseumsQuartier, which perfectly combines old buildings with modern architecture and, in addition, with over 60 cultural institutions, is a true mecca for art and culture enthusiasts.
We are particularly pleased that the main library at Urban Loritz Platz is allowed to reopen. The library offers a wide range of various media, great events, and readings. Unfortunately, the latter two have to be put on hold for now, but book lovers should definitely keep this in mind. Afterward, you should also pay a visit to Café Oben. From there, you have a wonderful view of the colorful hustle and bustle at the Gürtel.
And because the 7th district is mainly known for its trendy restaurants, we don't want to withhold our absolute local favorite from you: Marks in Neustiftgasse. In an incredibly cozy atmosphere, everyone really gets their money's worth here. Marks offers freshly cooked dishes made from regional products, and both vegans and meat lovers have a great selection – and that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So: If you are in the area, treat yourself to a flavorful experience at Marks! As you can see, the 7th district, with its original venues and diverse cultural offerings, is simply dreamy. Are you considering moving your place of residence here? Then we might have just the right option for you.
