We continue our blog series with perhaps the most diverse district: Neubau. It's not easy to limit ourselves to just a few highlights here, as there is so much to see. However, what you definitely should not cross off your must-see list, we will tell you today.
The Spittelberg district is a lovingly revitalized Biedermeier area with countless beautiful buildings and is perfect for a spring walk. Due to its numerous restaurants, bars, and cozy Viennese beisls with the typical gardens, Spittelberg is often referred to as a "village in the city." How wonderful that we can take advantage of this offer again starting today. This neighborhood simply exudes a very special, unique charm. In our opinion, it must be seen. Our tip: The small, romantic alleys are particularly worth seeing as well. So make sure not to miss them!
We at AKKADIA love coffee, which is why we can't miss giving a tip here: Café Westend – a typical institution of the Viennese coffee house scene. With its high, stucco-decorated ceilings, this café has a very special flair and ambiance. So if you feel the urge for a break after strolling along Mariahilfer Straße, make sure to drop by Westend. As a little pick-me-up, we recommend a classic Viennese Melange with a large piece of apple strudel.
The new building has a lot to offer architecturally; particularly many Gründerzeit houses and significant buildings can be found there, such as the Volkstheater or the Palais Trautson. There are also some special churches, like the Altlerchenfeld parish church, which is of great art historical significance as it represents a transitional work between classicism and historicism. One should not forget the MuseumsQuartier, which perfectly combines old buildings with modern architecture and, with over 60 cultural institutions, is a true mecca for art and culture enthusiasts.
We are particularly pleased that the main library at Urban Loritz Platz is allowed to reopen. The library offers a wide range of various media, great events, and readings. Unfortunately, the latter two must currently be skipped, but book lovers should definitely keep this in mind. Afterwards, you should also pay a visit to Café Oben. From there, you have a fantastic view of the lively activities at the Gürtel.
And because the 7th district is primarily known for its trendy restaurants, we want to share with you our absolute favorite local spot: Marks in Neustiftgasse. In an incredibly cozy atmosphere, everyone really gets their money's worth here. Marks offers freshly cooked dishes made from regional products, and both vegans and meat lovers have a large selection – for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So: If you're in the area, let yourself be pampered with great tastes at Marks! As you can see, the 7th district with its unique venues and diverse cultural offerings is simply dreamy. Are you considering relocating here? Then we might have just the right place for you.
